Welcome to our Website

The society was formed in 1987 and is for all those who are interested in genealogy and family history. Our members include people who live locally, in and around the area of Kirklees and Huddersfield, but also nationally and around the world.

The society held its 5th annual Family & Local History Fair on Saturday 10th November 2012, at Batley Town Hall which was well attended by a variety of stall holders and visitors

We have a large and very active team of volunteers who work with the society, helping with a variety of things such as transcribing parish registers, helping at one or more of our many library sessions, or helping out at the “Root Cellar”, to name just a few, and the committee would like to thank all our volunteers who, like the committee members, give their time freely. We are always in need of more volunteers and anyone wishing to offer some of their time, would be most welcome.

We hope you find navigating around the site easy, informative, and productive and we hope you are encouraged to come back and perhaps join our society. In either case, thank you for your visit and we hope to see you soon.
