23rd Annual General Meeting 2010.

Tuesday 9th November 2010.
Huddersfield Town Hall.

The AGM Starts at 7.00pm Prompt.
The AGM is open to Society Members only.

The AGM will be followed by a Speaker Meeting, which is open to all.
The speaker will start at 7.45pm, (subject to the AGM finishing on time).

Acceptance of 2009/2010 accounts,

Appointment of auditors.

Proposed date of next meeting Tuesday 8th November 2011.

This is the second year that the Society has decided to include nomination and voting on the election of officers, either electronically by email or by post.

We will have a member of the society, who is totally independent of the committee, who will agree to act as returning officer. He/She will record any electronic or postal votes, and be present at the AGM to register these votes and of those attending the meeting.

Agenda items for the AGM.

   Items for inclusion on this year’s agenda are hereby called for.
Those wishing to submit items for discussion at the AGM must do so, in writing to the secretary, by 1st September 2010.
Acceptable formats for submission include written statements to 26, Ledgard Wharf, Mirfield, West Yorkshire WF14 8NZ or by e-mail to
secretary@hdfhs.org.uk.

The revised agenda will then be published in the October Journal and on the website and voting issues will be clearly delineated. Ballot papers will accompany the publication of the revised agenda, where appropriate and these must be returned, either by post or electronic mail, to the secretary within fourteen days of the date of the AGM.

The Election of Officers.

All committee posts are elected on an annual basis. However, the Chairman shall not be elected for a period exceeding 5 years.

List of committee posts: -
Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Member’s Interests Secretary, Publicity Officer, Librarian, Data Manager, Editor, Programme Secretary, Research and Exhibitions Officer, Webmaster, Committee Member 1 and Committee Member 2.

Nominations are now called for, from amongst the membership, any of the above posts.
Please note that it is no longer necessary to obtain a proposer or seconder.

In order that the membership be given due notice to consider and vote for candidates, should there be more than one candidate for any particular post, the following nomination form must be completed and forwarded either by post or email, to be received no later than 31st August 2010, to:-

The nomination form is a straightforward word document. Therefore most people with access to their own computer, will be able to download and complete the form on their computer, save the form and then email it to the secretary as an attachment to their email. Alternatively, the completed form can of course be printed off and posted to the address above, in the usual way.
