Family Research Courses.
Alan Stewart-Kaye is to run his very popular 10 week course at the "Root Cellar" in Meltham.
The course will meet weekly on a Monday evening 7.00 - 9.00pm, commencing Monday
11th October 2010. If there are similar levels of interest as the 2008
& 2009 courses, then two courses will be run on alternate Mondays on a
fortnightly basis.
The course is aimed primarily at beginners to family history research and those wishing to learn how to use computers, to assist with their research.
The course will commence with an introduction to the "Root Cellar".

Registration. Extrapolating information from civil registration.
Session
2. Census Records. Understanding census records.
Session 3. Parish
Records. Understanding parish records.
Session 4. Other Sources of
Information. Looking at other sources.
Session 5. Other Sources of
Information Part 2.
Session 6. Military Records & Newspaper
Information. What information can be found.
Session 7. The Foreign
Connection. Connections from other countries.
Session 8. The Dark &
Lighter Sides. Prisons, Workhouses, famous relatives.
Session 9. The
World of Work. Professions, Commerce, Occupations and Guilds.
Session 10. Drawing It All Together.

Cost is £40 for society members, £50 for non members
but this includes one years membership to the society. Please note that
each course is limited to 10 places on a strictly first come first
served basis. A reserve list will be kept.
