The following is a list of the 2023 exhibitors. During summer 2024 we will start to update the list for our new venue at the Masonic Hall, Greenhead Road, Huddersfield, HD1 4EN
Commercial Stalls
The Proverbial Hare – It starts with a sketch and ends up with a coaster, a tea towel or a card! Browse a range of arty products developed from watercolour sketches, to brighten up your home and help you find the perfect gift!
Norky’s Ramblings – Peter Norcliffe, based in the Colne Valley, will be promoting his books about his own life in the area.
Andy Punshon Postcards & Ephemera – Andy has a large collection of photos taken over the past 15 years or so, featuring churches, war memorials and buildings of interest, along with a large selection of postcards featuring street scenes, churches etc., and a fantastic range of nostalgic greetings cards.
Idle Booksellers – buy and sell secondhand, antiquarian, rare and out print books, and specialise in the Yorkshire area.
HDhouses.co.uk – David Burdett makes characterful and quirky replica houses, wall plaques, house numbers and more, out of clay.
Family & Local History Societies and Groups
Huddersfield & District Family History Society – our own society will have an extensive exhibition area featuring various tables showcasing what we offer. We will have our full range of transcribed booklets of baptisms, marriages, burials and memorial inscriptions (MIs) for sale. Find out more about the graveyards for which we have already transcribed the MIs and more about the projects our team are currently working on. Our researchers will be pleased to offer half hour sessions of assistance and we will have a full range of new family and local history books and stationery for sale.
Calderdale Family History Society – Calderdale is located in the foothills of the Pennines in West Yorkshire. The Society also incorporates Halifax and District. The Society encourages and supports research into the history of families with roots in the area.
Wakefield & District Family History Society – advancing public education in family history and genealogy for the benefit of anyone living in Wakefield Metropolitan District or with interests in the former West Riding of Yorkshire.
Huddersfield Local History Society – is a membership organisation for anybody and everybody interested in the history of the town. They will be selling a range of new and used books.
Bradford Family History Society – aim to promote family history by education, mutual assistance, demonstrations, lectures, excursions etc.
Kirklees Local Studies Library – will be promoting their large collection of books, maps photographs and local newspapers relating to the Kirklees area, to be found at their new premises in Huddersfield Town Centre.
Manchester & Lancashire Family History Society – helping people to become better family historians, they are a very active society with an extensive online database.
Holmfirth Local History Group – A group of people with an interest in local and family history who enjoy exploring aspects of the heritage of Holmfirth and surrounding area.
Honley Civic Society – formed in 1984, the society aims to influence the development of the village in line with its heritage. The society will have a range of their own publications on sale.
Friends of Tolson Museum and Ravensknowle Park – a group of local residents whose aim is to find ways of supporting the local museum and park for the people of Huddersfield.
Huddersfield & District Archaeological Society – actively studies, explores and records the archaeology of the Huddersfield area.
St John the Evangelist Church (Newsome Centre) – was opened in 1872 but recently closed; it is due to be repurposed as a Community Centre and once again will be at the heart of the community.
Colne Valley Museum – consists of four converted weavers’ cottages and provides an insight into what life was life for a 1850s weaver. The museum holds regular exhibitions and tea, coffee and cakes are available on site.
Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society – can offer help in a variety of ways and has two research centres in Oswaldtwistle and Chorley.
British Association for Local History – is a national charity which promotes local history and serves local historians by holding events, publishing books and pamphlets and much more.
Yorkshire Waterways Heritage Society – are established to advance the education of the public in the history and heritage of the inland waterways of Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Group of Family History Societies – is an umbrella organisation for the many societies that cover various areas within the pre-1974 three Ridings of Yorkshire.
